I had an almost stock 400 with #48's & it ran ok. I could get 13:02 @ 106 from it. When I decided to go faster I built a 462 (455 + .30) with new gears, 3:73's. I am running an M-22 now with the 462 E-heads right out of the box, a Crane blue print RA IV cam RPM intake & a Q-jet I reworked (800 cfm) RA round port exhaust & with almost no tuning, just what I did from the start to make it run correct, timming & carb adjust. I thought I did a good job of it & it went 11:77 @ 116. It idles at 800 rpm's with a good sound out the back of the exhaust & I can go just about any where with it I drives as even as it did when it was new. I have a few bucks in it But for what I have in it & the way it runs I love it. I don't have any fancy tunning involved in it & I can run on 87, but if I want to run it hard now I have to use 91 or 93 if I can find it. It went the 11:77 on 89 octane because thats what was in it when I got over to the track. I feel my biggest & best upgrade was the E-heads. Also this build is a FTC to.
