More than his cars, I most enjoyed using my dad's '53 Ford stake-rack truck (2 or 3 ton?). Original flathead V8, 4-speed box & 2-speed rear. "50th Anniversary Ford" on the horn button. Early on, he had put J.C.Whitney tubing headers on it with no mufflers- just straight stacks up the rear of the cab! He kept it up through about '69, shortly after I married.
When I was first going to school (1945 to ~1949) I got a kick out of sometimes riding to school on the back of his Indian motorcycle, if he was heading into the village in the morning.
