As I recall, WA and CA have some fairly draconian emission laws. In those cases, the LS3 is a perfect candidate because it's CARB certified. I like LS engines. When the 4.3 in my Silverado gives up the ghost, it will be replaced with a 5.3 based 382 ci LS. Speaking of 440s, the late PA Jim Taylor built a RAIV headed, street/strip 440 a few years ago. If I recall correctly, it produced nearly 700 hp:ALL engine, no bottle. I'm fairly certain an LS3 couldn't eat THAT...
