All these are good recommendations especially the ones about a thin piece of stainless. Have used Mr G intakes with the crossover blocked and it burned through. The stainless pieces sound like a permanent solution (although on his Chevelle, my brother used cuttings from a beer can and they held-- LOL).
However way you go, do not forget to weld or safety wire the heat riser valve in the open position (or have it removed entirely). If you have headers, disregard this.
