While I do like how vinyl tops look, I'll never have another one again personally:
Good job on starting it, never hurts to get all of the parts together as much as possible before starting. A friend has been trying to sell his '68 on this site for years and I've been extremely tempted to get it so I can enjoy rowing the gears in an A-body again...
