Most folks in the maximum effort category are wiling to shell 6-10k on cylinder head castings and rightly so after all the work involved.
But, for the engine guy, who is responsible for making it all happen .... you think he can charge 10k labor? Rarely......... if ever.

It's so bazaar to me that people don't value your time, expertise, experience, and ability to make it all function properly, but will go out and spend $3500.00 on a carburetor or $10,000 for a bare set of heads in hopes of picking up a half a tenth.. It's been a mystery to me since I started back in 1979. I would say the only people that know how much time it takes to design, make fit together, clean, assemble and figure out why something didn't work the way that you thought are less than 1%.
