That has been my experience. Been running with the FAST guys for years (even though my car is slow.
) I was worried about getting it to hook when I switched from 3.31 to 3.73. It turned out to be much easier to launch with the 3.73- if they slip, it's easier to reel it back in. With lower (numerically) gears the wheel speed picks up too fast once they start spinning.
I actually raced with the Carousel Red '69 (belongs to PY member Bruno17) and the Mahoney/Tiemann '68 FAST car just a few weeks ago at the Hemming's Musclpalooza at LVD. The '69 is a well tuned, nicely done car but no real "tricks" built in.
The white RAII is another story.
It's run a best of 10.18… or was it 10.13.
