I like the Eatons because the clutch packs are easily serviceable when worn and the performance stays more consistent across the units life. Even when completely worn, the Eaton still works. Also you can change the friction material and spring force to adjust the torque bias to match your application.
Once the Auburn is worn out and the cones hit bottom, the unit no longer provides any torque bias, you need to replace it as it is not rebuildable, and pay to have the new unit installed and reshimed.
