I understand the desire to keep the provenance of the car, but to me, the choice between keeping the vintage title or putting the car on the road would be a no brainer. When I moved to Utah, I had the Arizona title for my GTO from when I bought it from my parents; Utah DMV said they had to keep it, so I had them make me a copy of it. I am more interested in being able to drive it than having original paperwork for it.
