Skip, I have used one of these 1973-79 Pontiac V8 Lower A/C Compressor Bracket #491877 cast iron brackets that bolts on to the right cylinder head several times in the past. Out of the way, a very strong mount, (no issues with crash), mounts on the right side of the engine where the Chebby fuel lines typically are.
I make one additional piece that is a regulator bracket that mounts the regulator but with the simple removal of the two bolts on the upper part of the bracket allows the regulator to slide out of the way.
