I've worked for two of the main oil additive companies. When I worked for Lubrizol (one of the 4), we would filter the oil additives we made through plate-and-frame filters. These have sheets of paper that fit between the plates and frames. We had different papers that filtered at different micron ratings.
Paper is NOT all the same.
