Thanks Jake. I am not sure I am following you because I am fairly certain there is only 1 pulley used on the 1964 Tempest p/s pump with A/C and P/S. In other words no 2 groover`s. The cad plate is all I have seen (exclusively) but the existence of a painted pulley could exist.. Around here we never say never. The fairly rare A/C option to the Tempest is one reason few judges would ever remove or add a point, which of course is not fair judging. They simply have never seen an original set up. Hell most judges don`t even know the correct door hinges and again reward a catalog resto over an original.
I also think the "plated" pulley/pump existed as an assembly line tip-off for the workers as well. Much like the correct grey of the engine bay harness and dash wiring exclusive to A/C Tempest.
I now wonder why Matt has not tried the NOS pulley to see if his squeal goes away? His picture looks like the belt may be deeper in the groove than my NOS pulley and perhaps the worn groove lets the belt ride down in the middle of the pulley and not the sides which can be the cause of the squeal. Matt just lay the belt into the groove of the NOS pulley and compare....no need to install it...yet.
