Bought a 69 GTO ragtop at Vandenburg AFB near Santa Barbara and drove it to Montreal Canada back in 84. Gave her the money, stopped at the local DMV to plate it (Had a California drivers license back then) and headed home.
Remember it well, first took the PCH to LA, then the 10 to the 15 to the 70 to the 80, then the 90 to Detroit and home on the 401 in Canada. 3,000 miles, top down the whole way, weather was great, 3.55's and a 4 speed, zero issues, oh to be young again!
