I've tinkered with it today and this dynacorn unit is really a cheap Taiwan piece o crap so I am sending it back. I bought an eBay unit specifically from a 64 tempest that is supposed to be here the 17th. I will install it as you described and if they don't work then I guess I will take it to our last real old school mechanic around here.
