I think they have to have correct casting numbers for engine and year. Bet they have a tech check if protested. Granted many wide open rules but I bet they do have some provision to verify.

I know NMCA did when I raced their stock classes. One Pontiac guy with an early SD motor had to come torn down he was so much faster to CC heads and check for porting. One Buick guy was found to have aluminum rods in his motor. Next race he was over 0.5 sec slower!
