Sorry to see this, but it's totally fixable by a competent body man and there will be no need to get rid of the original sheet metal. I've seen worse pulled and metal finished back to perfection. Good luck with the repairs....just another reality for those of us who actually drive our classic cars, and not a deal-breaker. It'll turn out alright.
