One more bit of trivia that I should mention regarding appraisers and adjusters.
There are differences. An appraiser only documents the damage or loss, and the condition of the vehicle. He/she may or may not write the estimate that you get. That person may be paid a flat fee per claim. Period. They are not paid to care or spend endless hours locating parts for you. Often they want the shop to do the leg work so they can submit the information to higher-ups. They do not negotiate with the insured or issue checks. Sadly, this the person who often physically represents the company that you pay money to.
An adjuster has the authority to negotiate and financially settle the claim. That's who the shop ultimately relies on for approval. That's the P.C. way that they want to operate. How it goes after this is what separates the winners and losers.
