Sure, consider the posted times and then look at the times a well-tuned stock car is capable of without going into the internals. Some are better and some worse. Look at what Wangers was doing and then look at the posted times for Chevies like the LS6 454. I Ran 13-teens with my '64 Goat 412 (.060 over 400) and was consistently quicker and faster than an LS6/auto owned by a dealers son. I went into the engine and found I had a bad cylinder due to an oil ring that had been folded over and scored the cylinder. I put it back together and ran 12.80's with a 3.55 rear. The Chevy had been torn down and blueprinted and ran closer to mine but still wasn't equal to it

Here's an interesting thread on the LS6 that can give you some idea of the differences between test cars. http://www.chevelles.com/forums/45-c...mile-time.html I don't know if the guy I'm comparing my car to ran headers or not, but you can see that he is very close to the best test times. His car was an auto with slicks. My car ran 109 mph and his, as I recall, was 1 to 1-1/2 mph slower.
