I guess I'll try to walk it out as you said initially. It may be slower (or not!), but it sure will save the parts.
As for the shift point conversation, that's fun stuff, but as most have said, it will make much less of an impact than launching a stick. And with my flat power curves, I don't expect much difference in times with slightly different shift points anyway, but it's a very good learning conversation; fun too.
Now I gotta find a day that works, rent a trailer (and maybe a tow vehicle too if my Jeep can't handle it), line up my friends who have been eager to go too, and hope we get more than a few runs.
My last time at the track was SO much fun!
