I am not demonstrating a knack for this, but I gave it a try.

Original button from my gauge cluster:



Stripped the aluminum by soaking in drano:



Sprayed with Testor's gloss back for model cars, dried overnight, then with aerosol SpazStix. Turned out OK, but not as good as I know is possible, and not as good as the trim on my dash bezel. The gloss black looked great, but the SpazStix mottled... I suspect it is my repeated lesson with high dewpoints here, but maybe just me..



It will probably look OK in the dash, but no-where near the stamped aluminum center I polished on the speedo:



Makes me wonder if I could glue some aluminum foil on stuff like this, then polish it and end up better off?
