I've attached two pictures. One of an original Ram Air IV and another from a restored Ram Air IV. You can see that the original car appear to have a natural steel colored breather tube running from the valve cover to the air cleaner assembly. However it is most likely that the black paint to protect the steel has been worn away. It is believed that these tubes were painted black and most concourse restorations paint them. The second picture shows the painted vent tube.
