You may be able to get your hand above the cardboard liner (depending on how limber or if you have small hands) to release the lock/latch......maybe with the radio out there may be enough room?

If it was mine & I didn't want to risk damaging the wood grain or the door I would sacrifice the cardboard glove box liner & go in from the backside. I'm pretty sure replacement cardboard boxes are available but if you cut it carefully you may be able repair/reuse it once you have it opened.
