Yup. I did a Melling 60 psi pump, dropped a hardened 1/16 thick washer (.06-ish) in the spring hole, and called it good. I did this for both of my current engines. I can't remember what the hole diameter was, tho. But use whatever is large enough to fit without getting stuck.
