Yes Leigh, you're right about that. I looked at that web page and I see that the Swoose still exists. So I called my travelling mate and pinpointed where we were when we saw that sign. It appears that the sign refers to where a US Dakota crashed killing about 15 Aussies and 8-9 Yanks who were on it. Close to Springsure in QLD. It was a very remote place where we were and I just assumed that it referred to Lyndon Johnson.
Should have dawned on me as Springsure is a fair distance from Winton.
This is the Dakota crash which confused me.
