It might be worth mentioning;
My car when I bought it had the door switches in place, and the paint on them told me they had been there a while;
My car had GM quarters replaced some time before I bought the car, and I believe it had two repaints;
My car also had a dash swap (a 1978-1981 dash was in place), but the wiring was all there;
If my memory serves me, I believe the drivers side was taped over, the passenger(?) wasn't.
At the time I figured that who ever did the dash swap got sloppy - but maybe it was replaced exactly as found;
I added screws to hold them in place, installed bulbs and called it a day.
I actually forgot about this until I read your posts - then I remembered!
My car is a "06A" (First week of June) Norwood car.
I would have to look to see if my car has that shaped area.
Here, after re-hooking them up, I had just assumed that all these cars came with under dash lighting!?
Can you guys tell me if it was a just a standard black coated 5/16"(?) screw that was used to hold the socket in place(?) - because I made an educated guess and used them from another car...
The attached picture I grabbed from google, and is only supposed to roughly represent the type of fastener I used;
