Aside from the color match, the Global also has the very fine metallic flakes that are correct. The others I have looked at have a more modern, larger flake in the paint. Also has that olive/gold tint that seems to have gotten lost in some other paints. I think I have some pictures of the my spray cards next to the untouched backside of a original painted door. it was so damn close to exactly the same.  |
Yes, that olive tint is not seen in some paint systems. When I recently sprayed dads car it's original color of Verdoro Green, it now has that correct appearance, and actually changes how it looks depending on how light hits it. At night it sometimes looks dark brownish until it's hit with light. Then the fine metallics bring out the color. Hard to explain unless it's seen in person.
For Dataway, if you're considering this color, I personally wouldn't do single stage. Not only does it not look quite the same, but polishing it afterwards is a dicey proposition because of all the fine metallic in the color. If you plan to wet sand and buff the car then you'll want a base/clear system. I've used BASF products for years and a certain person to mix my colors. Excellent product and spot on color matches to original paint formulas from back in the day that also include the fine metallics that 68ragtop mentions.
