I don't use Craigslist, but I had my wife's car listed in Autotrader several years ago for $6,000. Had a few guys call and, sight unseen, offer something like $1,800. When I said "No - I can't sell it for that," they always responded with "It's cash!" I told them "I think that goes without saying - I didn't think you were offering to pay in bubble gum."

I end up doing this fairly often with stuff that doesn't sell on Ebay. (Like the box of diapers that someone wanted me to ship to the Ukraine.) It helps someone out, and I at least get a tax write-off out of it.
