When restoring my '64 Post GTO, I ran into the same problem with the quarter windows. I believe it was also Restoration Specialties that someone suggested I contact. I did, and they responded that they did have the correct material, but used it all and had no plans to replace it in their inventory, mainly due to lack of demand. I tried Chevelle sources and others, but found nothing.

I found some window channel material at a local car swap meet that was similar, installed it in the metal frame, but could not get the window to work properly, in spite of DAYS OF EFFORT. The material took up too much space between the bottom of the channel and the surface that the glass contacts. I finally put the old material back in and called it a day. Mine was not as bad as you describe, but would have liked to replace it.

The metal channel for the quarter windows is also UNOBATANIUM.
