Yes - the red car was also built in Pontiac.

Either it was missed in the original build, or not replicated in the restoration(s).

It wasn't an engineering dictate but more a "help a brutha out" based on local processes.

I notice the truck plants were much more prolific with their writing on the firewalls. Here are a few truck threads I've participated in that demonstrate the concept:

My own car has a big "A" on the firewall, presumably to designate "Starlight Black".
