We ran a .030 455 with #12's, flat tops and zero decked on the street, and used a solid flat tappet ultradyne cam. In Ohio 94 octane was available at that time with no ethanol and that's what it was run with.
Had to be sharp on the tune, AFR, and keep engine temps under control but it was manageable. It didn't run on or diesel or any of those issues and was street driven for about 4 years. However when we raced it at the track it got several gallons of 115 octane race gas mixed with the pump gas to be safe.
It got to the point even that became a nuisance racing it 4-5 times a year so aluminum heads came into the picture.
I wouldn't even attempt that anymore living out here in AZ, same crappy 91 gas you guys have in California, lol.
