Yes, just follow the drawing. An inward facing step at the top or top corners will disrupt and hurt performance. Many OE's intentionally mismatched the floor of the intake to push the mixture up and help it turn in low RPM, high turbulence designs. The most radical I have seen was the "crossfire injection" GM used in the early 1980's. The mismatch was an intentional 3/8"-1/2" at the bottom of the port. Made excellent torque from idle to 4000 RPM's. That was the intended power range. It was done flowing at 4800 RPM. Just make sure you are matched and smooth at the top and top corners.
