That's an excellent article with a whole lot of data in it.
To summarize briefly - it's looking at filters for the Ford 5.0 V8 - an OE part # FL1A.
The OE filter is 4.125" long and 3.25" in diameter. It has 64 cartridge pleats, 400 square inches of element surface area and has a stamped-steel, with bypass valve, end cap.
Compare that to the Fram PH8:
4.125" long, 3" diameter, 34 pleats, 193 square inches of element surface are and has a
cardboard end cap with NO bypass valve.
There is no comparison between a Fram PH series filter and a quality oil filter.
