Thumbs up TIMING is everything...

I was asked about my set up in as far as timing.
In the past I have run points but over the last 5+ years have the Per-Tronix 1162A.
Being fortunate to have access to an Old School SUN-Distributor machine.
I have my dist set up with points then switch out with the PT kit,
And run a stock coil and Vac advance.
This has always been within the factory 5-BTDC Ign and approx 10 on Vac.

There has been some past discussions of PT issues/Failures, but luckily have had nothing but positive experiences with it. So I would suggest this conversion.

This time around I'll be using the SB sprocket which is long over due and likely necessary since we did take a bit off the head surface.
I hope this gets me the most bang for my spark

Regrettably I didn't measure the Flepro head gasket so,
not sure what that adds back to the loss of surface.
And will add, that a fellow Cammer ran into an issue with the alignment dowel pins standing proud of the gasket after some head surfacing and had issues with sealing.
I don't have all the details but this stuck in my head as something to consider and took an equal amount off my pins just because
This all comes into play as PMD didn't consider future machining and/or any possibility of adjustment.

FYI:
Different length 5/16 dowels are avail if needed.
Anyhow I'll keep you posted as I get the cam back on...
