When Studebaker went out of business around here in 1963, a company called Allied Stamping bought the metal stamping building, the presses, and everything inside. Supposedly, when they filled in the train dock, to make a flat floor, they used whatever was around for fill. New engine blocks, any sheetmetal that was laying around, NOS parts of all kinds went into the pit, and was filled over with concrete.
