So was it mounted inverted, then bent over the bolt so it could be read?
The pit marks are why I had taken my entire chassis back apart. I Decided to get rid of all of them on every chassis part.
It was a long uninspiring process, but that's behind me now. my cover & axle tubes had plenty of pits in them before.
