I've seen some restoration guys use silver solder to repair pits on pot metal trim pieces such as your Bonneville panel. Once media blasted, they clean it and get a soldering gun and apply solder to the pits, then sand it all flush. The advantage is that you can plate it, and if done right it looks like new.
