All GTO's and Lemans had a thin plastic backer under the vinyl " wood grain sticker " over the pebble surface . Tempest was pebble only I believe. A few years back you could get the plain "sticker" or one that would work right over the pebble surface . I don't think that applies today and is why you need the aluminum backing for between the pebble surface and the "sticker/decal".
