When it comes to my modern vehicles ... about the time they need the first big brake job, I sell it and buy something new. I don't have expensive tastes, basic PU, Honda CRV ... so I figure $250 a month to always be driving a relatively new vehicle. I haven't put much more than 100K on any one vehicle in 30 years, I like that new car smell. So for me, engine longevity is kind of a moot point. I put in Mobil 1 and a filter when the light on the dash says to, and that's about it.
Heck, I once sold a five year old truck because the speaker in the door stopped working
