The axle bearings are a complete unit. Never heard of putting a new bearing into an old housing, but that doesn't mean it has not been tried. Search other posts on here for discussions.
The only available axle bearings that interchange are ones from a Corvair or NOS ones on ebay. Try Clark's Corvair Parts.
