Float level ends up way low closing the needle and seat. And at the same time, not enough fuel leaking through the threads for the carb to load up and flood. Did see one that would load up if you let it set at idle for a long time.

On a dual plane intake you end up losing four cylinders when the bowl gets sucked dry.

Depending on float drop setting, the fuel starving could get worse with time as the seat backed out and dropped full float level. Float pushing up against the seat kept it from backing out all the way at one time.

Only seen this a few times (3 maybe) in the past 45 years or so.
