I've been down that road before using the dragstrip. Spent thousands of dollars over several years and couldn't find anything significant with muffler changes, but found quite a bit with pipe changes.
So these days I tend to pick a muffler on sound quality and then just make sure the pipes are the proper size with mandrel bends with a good X-over.
