Knocks down 14 mpg city and 17 mpg highway, and that was before the 5 speed swap. I've spent quite a bit of time tuning it, throttle response is very crisp and quick. 11:1 compression with iron heads and runs on 91 octane.

Been daily driving this thing for almost 3 years now. As you can see, considering it's nature, it has no issue what so ever loafing around town and doesn't complain while doing it.

A 302? Whaaaat? Who cares? Sounds like you have the wrong cam and tried to tune it to that. Cams are cheap and easy. They allow you to choose your power band. I picked the wrong cam so I'm going to use a different one.
Pretty simple thing. And with some lifter noise it's an easy choice for me and my car.
