I suppose most of us like a certain model because we had one or knew of one somewhere in our past.

I'm no different. My first Pontiac was a new silver '69 RA3 4-speed GTO. Therefore, I'm partial to the '69 GTO. What I really wanted was a Judge. But, early in '69, the only color available was what I called "Halloween Orange". I know the official name of the paint is something else. But, when the salesman told me that was the ONLY color available, I told him "I ain't about to drive around in no halloween orange car". So, I suppose my favorite body would be a black '69 Judge.

My 2nd choice would be a '65 GTO. Was gonna buy one in '69, but my boss talked me into buying a new car, instead. To me, a nice, dependable 4-speed '65 GTO would make a great driver. Could burn a little rubber when I "need" to, and make a few local shows.

Next would be a '68 Bird. Owned quite a few. Raced several of 'em. This is my pick for a drag car. I was always over 6 feet tall & overweight. So, an A-body gave me more room. Was a little cramped in a 1st gen Bird.

Next, & the last one I'll mention in this post, is a '77-'78 Bird. Also inspired by the Bandit car. BUT, I'd want a Formy rather than a T/A, & a hard top rather than T-tops. That way I wouldn't have to deal with the shaker or leaking T-tops. We had a '77 4-speed black Bandit. Ran & drove just fine. But the T-tops poured & we didn't even have a carport, at that time. It was TJ's DD for a few months. She liked everything about it, except the leaking top.

In '77, a local guy had a new black Bandit. Over the winter, I helped him put together a '69 GTO I had, so he could do some bracket racing with us, in '78. So, his Bandit was usually at my shop several nights a week, during the winter of '77-'78. That car is still basically all original, & is owned by another local guy. Pretty much "show only" now.
