I recall a feature in High Performance Pontiac magazine (RIP) about a '70 GTO with turboed 400. I'm going to misspell the owners name and I apologize - Marty Probalkin. He found that exceeding 1,200 hp caused the block to split. I think it was an exhibition, total drag only car.
