It has long been considered a good accomplishment to win your class at the US Nationals, if there is more than 1 car in your class. In 1998, Bob Michael was M/SA class winner at Indy, in a '78 T/A.

2015: Michael Brand won G/SA, with his '73 Bird. In lots of these years Pontiacs also picked up some RU positions, in class. When there are several cars in that class, an RU at Indy is sort of a big deal.
