I've got all three, '67 434 (400), '04 5.3L and '15 5.7 hemi. All of them are great engines and punch above their CID. The newer engines win when it comes to emissions, fuel economy and finesse with modern electronics. The Pontiac is the most fun, since there are no digital nannies holding it back with traction control, torque management or throttle by wire response times. There is no latency waiting for half the motor to wake up from 4-cyl mode.
The Pontiac does what it does with raw physics and 3 gears. The newer, smaller engines need 3 computers and 6 or 8 speeds to tear your head off.
