After my wife and I married, we tried to find a car like that Lemans. It was 1992 and a devastating recession hollowed out Toronto. We were poor with one kid and another on the way. But these late 70's and 80's midsize GM cars were such a hot commodity that if one came up, you had to be quick. They were inexpensive, reliable and easy to fix. More importantly, larger than their Japanese counterpart.
