My '71 Formula non-A/C car with rally gauges had the bird emblem all the way to the right as in that first brochure you posted SD455DJ.
I know along the way I purchased a number of dash inserts and I specifically recall some that were non-A/C, non-rally cars with no emblem. I looked for those since I just cut them for 4 gauges anyway, that's how I remember.
