There are around (3) versions of the "Langer" pan. The split pan was the result of crower having a bad run on lifters where they manufactured the wheels out of a material that was too hard. At the time, crower was the only manufacturer that would make lifters for a Pontiac that were .904 in diameter. Before the split pan, it would take me upwards of 3 hours to pull out the broken lifter, drop the pan, clean out all of the broken parts and put it back together. I lost a race due to not being able to fix it in time so I made a split pan. Now, I can change a lifter in around 45 minutes. Since I worked with Jessel on lifters, knock on wood, haven't had any issues.
