The biggest danger with this virus is that there is no easy treatment for it to prevent pneumonia like we have with the flu and that you can be a carrier and infected for almost a week without knowing it, making spreading extremely easy. Because the immunocompromised and elderly are going to the hospitals in record numbers, it is overwhelming the medical system and has the potential to cause more problems if we don't get the spread under control.
It's only worse than the flu because it easily progresses to pneumonia requiring a ventilator and hospitalization in the worst cases.
As a chemo patient who is at-risk, I'm not freaking out or even worrying too much. I'm just continuing to be smart and continuing to wash my hands like a mechanic coming in from the garage and we'll get through it. I wish I could get a damn job though...
